Narrative Lead | New Age Mythos | Remote/Volunteer | July 2025 – Present
- Creating narratively charged and story-relevant promotional materials
- Optimize narrative documentation including story bibles, scripts, character breakdowns, by consolidating notes into templates for accessibility, organization, and ease of navigation
- Create scripts, characters, plot arcs, and character profiles for collaboration with other departments and game implementation
- Utilized branching narrative to create diverse moral choices as the core of our roleplaying game mechanics with a focus on morally grey options to increase player agency.
- Build project management workflows to ensure materials are completed by deadlines and that narrative continuity is consistent across writing team
- Used the Hero’s Journey and Jungian archetypes as the foundation of plot design and character design, developing templates with these systems to increase the efficiency of design work within the narrative team
- Conduct historical research of classic literature, theology, and mythology for adaptation into narrative world
Narrative Designer | Wee Tattie Studios | Remote/Volunteer | August 2025 – December 2025
- Researched folkloric creatures for narrative implementation, utilizing their historical themes, powers, and stories to fill narrative plot holes, connect with game mechanics, and add greater conflict and stakes to the narrative without altering previously constructed narrative materials, game mechanics, or game assets
- Seamlessly integrated narrative into preexisting puzzles through voice lines, barks, and environmental storytelling to meld story and gameplay
- Used non-linear storytelling to design the narrative as a puzzle to uncover the mystery and truth of the story. This married story with mechanics and elevated the core game loop of the puzzle game with narrative elements to piece together as a reward for completing puzzles
- Within three weeks, utilized an owner mindset and constant communication with various teams to reshape unfinished and unusable narrative and mechanic materials into a clear narrative and design vision that kept to the game’s core themes and design goals. Through this result-oriented and hands-on approach, puzzles and materials were restructured with a clearer flow of play and more defined narrative and mechanical payoff for the conclusion of the demo to increase player investment
- Worked across time zones with a diverse remote team, aligning my cross-team communication schedule to connect with the working hours of oversea team members. Kept open, clear and consistent communication with team members and kept and shared extensive meeting notes to share with team members whose time zone prevented them from attending certain meetings
- Designed narrative and collaborated with feature and level design team with player/user interests in mind with a focus on rewarding player curiosity and exploration to reinforce the mystery and puzzle elements that are the core of our design
- Collaborated with feature, level design, and coding teams to inject narrative into their designs with minimal disruption to their work. Regularly held meetings with feature and level design members to iron out logical holes and designed narrative and mechanical solutions that invited player interaction, provided narrative meaning to the puzzles, and increased immersion in the game world
- Collaborated with marketing team to produce narrative dev logs to promote the game
